Rotherham Clifton 15 – 0 Barnsley 3rds Rotherham Clifton’s new head coach, Chris Hale, got the season off to a winning start. Clifton dominated for much of the 1st Half but could not turn their possession in to major points, resulting in a 10-0 lead at half time. Matthew Hale scored Cliftons opening try on 16 minutes, breaking through the Barnsley defence from in the 22, beating two defenders and dragging one more over the line with him. On 55 minutes, Clifton winger Michael Lambley, broke clear, after some slick hands by the Clifton backs giving him a clear run in from his own 22, however he was deemed to have put a foot in touch by the referee. Following the game new Head Coach, Chris Hale said ‘Its good to get off to a winning start and even better that we kept a clean sheet. Lets hope we can build on this and get a winning streak together’. Rotherham Clifton’s 1st XV are away next Saturday at Sheffield Tigers.
